Re: Shovel in ground for Windsor's first 'home for women in crisis pregnancy,' by Don Lajoie, July 16.
I'd like to submit the following letter as a means of clarification. I fear that some people might think that there are not already resources for women in crisis pregnancy.
There are. The only need that is not being met at this time is a residential program specifically designed to assist such women. On behalf of our board, I'd like to thank Don Lajoie for his informative and positive article about Our Lady of Guadalupe Non-Profit Home. Thanks are also in order to Deborah Kloos and Edward D. Stewart for their letters to the opinion page of The Windsor Star.
We are deeply grateful and encouraged by such expressions of support. Windsor and Essex County provide support for women in crisis pregnancy
through organizations such as Birthright and Sunparlour Pregnancy Resource Centre, just to mention two. Our Lady of Guadalupe Home will support pregnant women by providing the missing element - a residential program designed to meet the specific needs of women in crisis due to unplanned pregnancy.
Many have come forward to encourage us and to donate money and/or services, giving us reason to believe that Windsor and Essex County will help us to succeed in this endeavour.
Thank you.
